Of course Node.js has been around for a little while now, in Internet time anyway. But it's fun to watch a succession of developers on Twitter geek out as they discover a whole new way of writing software.

(For those of you new to Not Invented Here, it's usually drawn a couple of orders of magnitude better, but I am helping Paul build up his buffer by drawing this week's strips. Explore our archive to see how it's supposed to look, and then buy our book to enjoy his art in full high-res glory.)

Desmond: This is an amazing time, Owen. And we're here to witness it!
Owen: Absolutely! What?

Desmond: Node.js! It's not every day a new web framework is born. Okay, it is. But this is the big one! It's going to change everything!

Owen: How does one celebrate a new web framework?
Desmond: It says, "In lieu of gifts please contribute to the github repository."
